After retiring from working in management of counselling and welfare services at Relationships Australia and the Wesley Mission five years ago, I decided that I would love to get back in touch with Africa, the continent of my birth. I migrated 35 years ago. I still remember vividly what it was like to leave my birthplace and choose to make Australia my home.
Much of my work for my PhD and in counselling included a focus on the arts as a method of capturing data; gaining insight and helping people negotiate settlement.
I developed two games with community, captured stories and helped a participant write a play to communicate settlement issues to audiences in the greater community.
I have worked as a counsellor and psychologist for many years and have specialised in the use of art as a counselling medium. My work has focused on relationship, family violence, trauma and settlement issues for refugees.
I have written and self-published 5 books in 2010-2015.
These books focus on issues that have presented as issues in my work, homelife and in the politics of South Africa.
